Description

A small but difficult set to complete in high grade, the 1933 DeLong baseball card series consists of just twenty-four cards, that make a dynamic presentation with real photos over color illustrations. Former Goudey employee Harold C. DeLong gave it his best shot, establishing his own gum company in the vicinity of his former employer. It was a short-lived endeavor, with the 1933 card set being the only issue. Evidence of DeLong's efforts to keep his enterprise going hit the scene, with this triple-signed 1934 DeLong Gum Co. stock certificate.

Dated 9/8/34, this "No. 17" certificate is made in the amount of 100 Shares at a value $10 each, to George W. Wilson. Crisp and clean with bold graphics and text, this antique financial instrument, shows light to moderate wear, including staple holes at top left and creases on three of the corners. The content is unaffected and an engraved image of a proud eagle at top and a raised seal at bottom provide plenty of visual appeal. DeLong has signed three times with average ("7") potency, including two signatures on the front at bottom as "President" and "Treasurer"; and once on the back as a witness. Wilson has also signed on the back, which is affixed with an array of Massachusetts Stock Transfer stamps. Also present is a crisp receipt certificate signed by Wilson, with a single stamp on the back. Auction LOA from JSA.
