Breathe some rare air with this ancient baseball relic. Presented is a seldom seen 1922 Piroxloid Products Corp. Big Six partial board game. The magnificent graphics adorning this pair of game components are more than worth the price of admission. Endorsed by Christy Mathewson who this game is named for, are a box lid panel and a game playing board with spinner.
Measuring approximately 17x23, the lid features a photo of Mathewson in a pitching pose. The name of the game "Big Six" is emblazoned at top in big red letters and printed below at left is the legend "Christy Mathewson Indoor Baseball Game All the Thrills of the Diamond". Absent of side panels, this lid section suffers surface loss at two corners and the remaining area shows age-appropriate wear including creasing on the lower region. The opposite side is printed with the game's instructions and also features a photo of Mathewson taking the game for a spin at top.
The 16x22 spinner board has stood the test of time in much better fashion, presenting as fairly clean and bright, with a smoothly functioning spinner arrow. Most of the noted wear occurs on the corners and edges. Despite the attrition faced during a century long existence, these two panels still retain plenty of authentic appeal and are well worthy of prominent display.
