Known as the "Crime of the Century", the diabolical 1932 kidnapping and murder of Charles Augustus Lindbergh Jr. was a despicable act that captured the attention of the nation. A virtually unknown relic surfaces, with this c.1932 "Baby Lindie" poem booklet. Filled with eight pages of rhyming four-line stanzas, this obscure publication chronicles the horror of this terrible crime, regarding the death of renowned aviator Charles Lindbergh's twenty-month old son. The red cover notes the author as A.E. Fortner on the front and the inside of the back cover is printed with "Price, 10c". The poetic text cites the year of the crime, but not the name of the man executed for it 1936, indicating this booklet was printed prior to the 1934 capture of Bruno Hauptman and most likely, shortly after the baby was found dead on 5/12/32. Very nicely preserved, this crisp, clean booklet rates as (EX-MT) with just minor wear near the spine staples preventing a higher grade.
