After finishing last or next to last during their first seven seasons of play in the ten-team National League from 1962-1968, nobody expected much from the cellar dwelling Mets. In the first year of divisional play, Skipper Gil Hodges played to his squad's strengths, wringing every drop of talent out of a masterful pitching corps and a squad of platoon players, to overcome a ten-game Chicago Cubs lead, with a 38-11 record down the stretch. This glorious season ended with a stunning upset victory over the heavily favored Baltimore Orioles in the 1969 World Series.

Flushing faithful keep your memories of the "Amazin' Mets" alive, with this 1969 New York Mets pin lot of (3). Leading off is a 1969 World Series press pin (NM). The other (2) pins are colorful 3-1/2" souvenir types featuring team mascot "Mr. Met", both in (VG-EX) condition. The World Series pin has a Balfour hallmark on the back, the Mr. Met pin with orange background is marked 1969 Button House on the edge and the Mr. Met button with white background is not marked.
