Description

When the International Boxing Hall of Fame was founded in 1990, the Inaugural Class consisted of fifty-three inductees, for the categories Modern Boxers, Old Timers, Pioneers, Non-Participants, and Observers. A tremendous souvenir of this prestigious first class is had, with this 1990 IBHOF Inaugural Class multi-signed boxing glove.

Accompanying is an LOA signed by IBHOF Executive Director Edward Brophy, dated 6/10/90. Framed to overall dimensions of 15 x 17-1/2", this letter states that the offered glove is signed by (14/15) boxers who were living at the time, and it is one of just eleven such gloves in existence. Brophy's LOA also states he has signed the inside of the glove, where he has also numbered the glove "#10", and dated his signature "6-10-90", on the day of the first IBHOF induction.

The glove is a 12 oz. red Everlast model in excellent condition, and the autographs range ("7" to "10") in strength. Featured signers are: Muhammad Ali, Jose Napoles, Jake LaMotta, Archie Moore, Willie Pep, Ike Williams, Carmen Basilio, Sandy Saddler, Joe Frazier, Billy Conn, Bob Foster, Emile Griffith, "Jersey Joe" Walcott, and "Kid" Gavilan, who were all inducted in the Modern category. Auction LOA from JSA.
