A tough-as-nails ex-Marine, former New York Yankee staple Hank Bauer was none too shy about confronting a teammate who wasn’t hustling. Some 50 years after the “Bronx Bombers” completed their record run of five successive World Series titles, Bauer attended an Old Timers reunion at Yankee Stadium where he suited up in and autographed these apparel items. Includes: Yankees Home Uniform a white knit ensemble with a blue pinstriped pattern and twill identifiers (on the jersey) of “NY” and “9.” Both garments feature proper “Russell Athletic” tagging and are signed by Bauer (“8” strength); Yankees Cap a blue wool “New Era” size “7-1/8” accessory signed on the bill (“7-8”). Full photo LOA from Dave Miedema (for uniform authenticity only) and individual LOAs signed by Bauer.
Jersey a button-down garment with a Yankees 100th anniversary logo patch sewn to the left sleeve and an MLB silhouette logo at the base of the neck. On the tapered left front tail, a “Russell Athletic” label is accompanied by a size “48” fabric content tag.
Pants leg wear with a two-button zippered fly, seven belt loops and two satin-lined back pockets. The elasticized waistband’s interior is home to a “Russell Athletic” size “44” label and an accompanying strip tag denoting “44/46-30-03.”
All items are signed by Bauer and inscribed “July 19 – 2003 Old Timers Day" Getty Images photographs indicate that old-timers uniforms issued specifically for the July 19, 2003 event had the Russell Athletic logo on the left sleeve, unlike normal Yankee gamers from that season.
