Presented is an eclectic trio of vintage baseball items highlighted by a large Navy quilt. Measuring approximately 78x78”, the quilt features a central Navy patch as well as (52) 1914 B18 blankets and over (20) other assorted tobacco felts. Also included is an antique Babe Ruth cast-iron bookend and a circa 1950s baseball-themed tie hanger with a pair of charms. More on our website.
This large quilt features over (70) tobacco felts including (52) B18 baseball blankets and various other flags, animals and Native American themes. While general signs of use including minor tears, moth holes and color-bleeding from washing are clearly evident, the quilt displays very well nonetheless, highlighted by blankets of Burns, Chance, Johnson (sewn on backwards), Maranville, (3) Stengel, (2) Walsh and (3) Wheat. Near the lower central part of the quilt a Navy felt is present presumably associated with the six first names that have been stitched to the quilt near the upper edge.
The wooden tie-rack measures 11x7 and is etched with a baseball background titled “Over the Fence for a Tie Score!” While there is a small crack near the bottom right of the wood, the rack presents very well with two baseball related charms affixed to the rack.
The final piece of this lot is a colored antique Babe Ruth cast-iron bookend measuring 9” tall.
