While the offered U.S. Currency piece is now obsolete, the same might be said regarding the ilk of the rugged men who signed it. Issued in 1923, the 1-dollar note has a customary blue seal and serial number and was long ago endorsed with various writing instruments on the reverse by (7) sports and cultural icons from the 1920s-1930s. Includes: James Braddock (“8-9” strength); Frank Buck (“7”); Jack Dempsey (graphite pencil, “6”); Andrew Kerr (“6-7”); Tom Sharkey (inscribed “Yours Truly,” “7-8”); Lew Tendler (“9”) and one unidentified. Note: the bill is separated at the center as a result of excessive folding. This affects the Buck and Kerr signatures. Full photo LOA from JSA.
