As Gibbs-Conner crafted porcelain mascots of 1950s sports mascots, certain liberties were taken in portraying the Brooklyn Dodgers’ beloved “Bum.” This razor blade depository is no exception. Standing 4-1-2”-tall, the bust depicts Willard Mullin’s unkempt character with “Bums” painted on his sideways cap and, of course, a lit cigar emerging from a wry grin accented by a few teeth. A vertical slot resides at the back of the head to facilitate the deposit of used blades. On the back of the jersey, the raised-letter instructions and “little dodgers” warning has been worn down almost completely. The keepsake retains its luminous hues and is free of any chips or cracks.
